Are you looking for a simple, all-natural face scrub? Look no further than this DIY Almond Face Scrub!
Using only 2 things you probably have in your home already, this face scrub is a great way to exfoliate your skin and bring out that natural glow, without using any foreign or harmful ingredients.
All you need is:
- 1 1/2 tsp ground almonds
- a few drops of milk
Using a mini food processor or blender, grind up a handful of almonds until they are finely ground. You want them to be almost powder-like. You don’t want any big chunks and you want the mixture to be one consistency.
1. Take about one and a half teaspoon of the powder and place in a small bowl. Add a few drops of milk and give it a mix. The trick to getting the face scrub the right consistency is to not add too much milk. (The picture above is too much milk for that amount of ground up almonds). You want the mixture to be like a paste that will stick to your face easily. If it’s too liquidy, it won’t stick to your face. It needs to be like a paste that will stick easily.
If you find that you’ve accidentally added too much milk, add a little more ground up almonds. Mix again and judge the consistency. If the mixture is too thick now, add a few more drops of milk. Don’t be afraid to a little bit of both ground up almonds and milk to get the desired consistency.
In order to apply the scrub, take the mixture and pat onto your face. If it’s too viscose and granule-y, you need more milk. If it’s too liquidy and not sticking to your face, you need more ground almonds.
2. Apply the mixture all over your face, even under your eyes. A few bits of the paste might fall off, but just apply more of the paste until your whole face is covered.
3. Leave on for 5 minutes.
4. Wet your fingers a bit and start to rub the paste. You don’t want too much water so that the paste comes off right away. You want enough wetness on your fingers to be able to cause the almond paste to rub gently against your skin. In a circular motion, rub your hands over the paste to gently rub it over the skin. Continue all over the face until the whole face has been exfoliated. Do this for a few minutes to ensure that you rub all over the face. Do this above a sink so that the fallen granules will fall into the sink.
5. Wash your face with water to remove any remainders of the almonds and moisturize.
Even after doing this DIY Almond Face Scrub once, you’ll notice how soft and smooth your skin is. But do it at least 3 to 4 times a week to get a noticeable glow and to make your skin visibly softer. The ground up almonds act as a natural exfolatior as they remove any dirt and build up, which leaves your skin smoother and softer.
If you’ve got a few extra minutes, you might want to grind up some extra almonds to make the base of the DIY Almond Scrub in advance. Just store it in an airtight container and all you’ve got to do is take some out and add a few drops of milk!
The great thing about this scrub is its simplicity and the fact that it’s inexpensive. If you grind up a bunch of almonds and store them in advance, you can make this scrub anytime.
Using only natural ingredients, this DIY Almond Face Scrub is a simple way to get naturally smooth and radiant skin.
