We all make mistakes. None of us are perfect. Sometimes our mistakes are big and sometimes they’re small. Sometimes we can get consumed by our big mistakes and think that we’re beyond Allah’s help. We’re not.
No matter if it’s big or small, ask Allah for forgiveness. Do not think that your mistake is so grave that Allah will not forgive you. One of His names is Al-Ghafer which means the forgiver of sins. If one of the Almighty’s names is the Forgiver, then what makes you think that He won’t forgive you? Allah loves to forgive so repent to Him.
Repentance is easy. It’s seeking out Allah in your heart and speaking to Him. It’s telling Him that you know you’ve sinned and acknowledging the fact that you have made a mistake. It’s asking Him to forgive you, to wipe the error from your slate, and to ask Him to guide you to the right path. It’s sincerity.
No matter how many times you’ve sinned or even made the same mistake, don’t fall into the trap of thinking that Allah won’t forgive you. If you are sincere about acknowledging that you’ve sinned and want to be forgiven, you will be. Because Allah loves to forgive.
So don’t get caught up in hopelessness. Allah is there, and so there is always hope. Never give up. And don’t ever think that your sins are greater than Allah’s mercy. Allah’s mercy is great, and may He have mercy on all of us. Ameen.
A reminder for myself before anyone else.
